the last visit with my buddy

All the things that I had hoped would happen through this year of mentoring happened! My buddy and I bonded, we enjoy each others company and he talks to me with out me asking questions. It has been an amazing time with him. He asked when I left if I wanted to meet up with him again next year after he's done with football even though he is going to be a senior. He has accomplished so many things that I never thought he would. He asked a girl to the prom, he's playing football next year and his grades are still up. He's a fantastic kid and I can't wait to spend more time with him. I hope all the best things for him!

another visit

It seems like each week my little buddy opens up to me more and more. It seems just like he is a normal friend. We enjoy joking and picking on each other in a light hearted way. We played my pop culture game with Britta and her little. It was so much fun and it was so funny again. They are something else those two. I can't stop laughing when they get to talking. Even when they pick on me I still think its funny. They are fun to be around and I feel like I'm going to miss them immensely when I leave for the summer. I hope my buddy comes here when he's in college so that we can hang out again. I have a lot of  fun with him and I'm so proud of him.

yet another week

This week my buddy and I just hung out with his brother and Britta. He has really opened to me, I know this because this was the first time that he has been around his brother and still openly talked to me. He told me that he has taken the girl that he asked to prom out on 2 dates. I wasn't completely sure that he would be able to pull that off. I'm very proud of him. He also got his license! Watch out everyone, he's mobile! It was nice to see him again and to know that he still feels comfortable with me.

a little relax time

This time my buddy and I just hung out and talked this week. We did some puzzles and played some games while we chatted. We talked about the girl that he's interested in. We talked about how he didn't ask her out for valentines day but that he's still planning on it. We talked a little about things like that and the rest of the time it was just small talk. It's super exciting that he trusts me to talk about things like that. I hope that girl goes out with him because it would really suck if she shot him down. Wish him luck!

The day before Valentines day

It was just another day. We played games and chatted a bit about valentines day, guitar hero, and a few other things. He didn't want to make cards with me but he watched me make one and drew a picture. We talked a little about the girl that he plans to ask out for valentines day. I told him he's going to have to tell me how his date goes. Hopefully its good! I'm liking our relationship now. We are much more relaxed and comfortable with each other. It's really nice. Nothing more really happened. Just had fun together and joked with each other. It was a good time.

just like last week

This week my buddy and I looked at some schools that he  might be interested in going to. We found two that might work for him and I told him to research them a little more and to keep looking. Maybe next time we can look for some scholarships. I think the first step is finding what schools he's interested in. After that he and I just hung out. Our relationship has become much more comfortable. His new favorite thing to do is pick on and make fun of me. It's great. I'm used to that from my brothers and for a 17 year old boy to do pick on me, that means he's comfortable with me. That makes me happy. Finally we have the relationship I had hoped we would have. He even told me about a girl that he's interested in. Hopefully I can help with that too. I look forward to next week.

best visit yet

It has been a bit of a struggle meeting with my buddy every week. Comparing him and my little brother, who are both the same age, my brother is easier to converse with. My buddy seems to be holding back from me and I don't know what to do to make him talk to me more. I want him to confide in me and I don't know how to do that. This week Britta didn't come along. I think that might have been a good thing for he and I. We talked a little about when he is planning on taking the ACT. I told him about my experiences with the test and that I think he should take it more than once. We also talked about what schools he thinks he could be interested in. I told him that he should start looking into that right about now and that it's important to start looking now. Then for the rest of the time, he and I just joked around with each other. He told me a little about his classes at school and how he hates choir. We play jacks with Ruth and her little and just pretty much hung out. He seemed much more easy going and happy to be spending time with me this week than I have seen in him yet. I enjoyed this week very much. I am growing closer to him. I hope it stays that way!
